Why Is My Barcode Not Scanning? 10 Common Causes & Practical Solutions

Troubleshoot non-scanning barcodes: print resolution issues, poor contrast, wrong quiet zones, and scaling errors.
Non-scanning barcodes cause operational delays in warehouse and retail environments. Troubleshoot common causes:
1. **Insufficient Quiet Zone**: Leave at least 3 mm blank space to the left and right of barcode bars.
2. **Poor Contrast**: Dark bars on dark background confuse optical scanners. Use black bars on white media.
3. **PDF Printer Scaling**: Enabling *"Fit to Page"* distorts barcode bar widths. Print at **100% Actual Size**.
4. **Low Printhead Resolution (DPI)**: 203 DPI printheads blur small barcodes. Use 300 DPI for high-density barcodes.
5. **Invalid Check Digit**: Recalculate checksums for GTIN/EAN numbers (calculated automatically in UDImaker).
