How to Save, Export, and Reuse Label Templates in Your Browser

A reusable template preserves dimensions, objects and layout so the next job does not start from an empty canvas. It also preserves data, which means an old lot or serial number can be carried into a new job unless you deliberately replace it.

Choose the right storage method

• Browser storage is useful on the same device and browser profile. It can be lost when site data is cleared and should not be your only copy.
• JSON export is an editable design file for archiving or moving the layout. A PDF or PNG is output artwork and does not replace the editable design.
• Account storage keeps named designs associated with your account. Choosing this option uploads the design, including its embedded images, to the service.

The editor does not currently map Excel or CSV columns or generate a multi-page batch from spreadsheet rows. Reopening a template is a manual workflow, not batch automation.

Prepare a clean master

For a sample 80 × 40 mm inventory layout, set the dimensions and position the product name, reference and Code 128 object. Use clearly fictitious text such as DEMO-0042. Give the master a descriptive name including the stock size and revision, for example “Inventory 80x40 r1”.

Export its JSON and save it alongside a reviewed PDF or image. Store both in a controlled folder if the design is used for business production. A filename is a useful convention, but it does not create an approval or version-control system by itself.

Reuse without stale values

1. Load the design using the browser, JSON import or your saved account designs.
2. Confirm the stock dimensions and intended printer.
3. Replace product, lot, date and serial values from the current job record.
4. Inspect barcode properties separately from manually added text.
5. Export a new output file and decode its symbol to compare the exact value.
6. Print and review a sample before releasing the job.

Changing a text caption does not necessarily change an independent Code 128 or QR object. GS1 fields have their own generated readable data; avoid adding a second manual copy that can drift out of sync.

Protect the design file

JSON can contain product identifiers, production data and embedded images. Treat it as business data rather than an empty visual template. Before sharing an example, replace confidential values and check imported artwork. Keep an independent copy before overwriting a reviewed master, and check the privacy notice when choosing between local and account storage.
